Where to begin…
Well for starters, I grew up in the lovely city of Des Moines, Iowa. I attended the University of Iowa (GO HAWKS!) and graduated with a B.B.A. in Marketing in May 2012. After college, I moved down to Tempe, Arizona with my bestie (J) for a little adventure and to see what was outside the cornfields of our home state. (I’m kidding – I just didn’t have a job and J and I thought AZ seemed as close to the tropics as we could get.) Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve traveled before (just in the US) visiting my dad and the rest of my family in New Jersey (oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I was transplanted out to Iowa from New Jersey when I was 11), my cousins in Florida, and here and there throughout the years. But vacation is one thing and actually living someplace else is another.
Fast forward ten months and I am now living in Portland, Oregon with the best guy in the entire world – who for some reason continues to put up with me. This wonderful guy I speak of is my boyfriend (R). R’s job brought us to Portland in the beginning of July and I am loving getting to explore a new city with my best friend.
Now, to the important stuff. R and I have decided that we want to make some changes to lead healthier lives, and we will be doing this by committing to the paleo lifestyle. If you know me, you are probably saying to yourself right now, “Shauna, do you realize this means no chips and cheese dip, no baked ziti, no froyo and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD – NO VODKA???” And my answer to you is, yes – I understand all of these things. At the end of the day, I want to feel good about the life I’m living and I want to make sure my body is the healthiest it can be. I am 23 years old, isn’t this the prime of my life or something like that? I guess it’s time to make it happen.
Over the next two months, I will be using this blog to document the whole dang thing! Please feel free to use any recipes that we try, get some ideas from our meal plans/grocery lists and most importantly let us know your thoughts! (Nice ones of course, AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR NEGATIVITY!)
Thanks for reading and I hope you don’t find my “all-over-the-place” thoughts too annoying!
